Hyundai’s Verna, the sedan that comes loaded with features and innovation has been slowly climbing the popularity ladder in the automobile market. The sedan fares pretty well in safety parameters as well as technological advancement.
The 1.4 litre VTVT petrol engine and the 1.4 litre CRDi diesel engine that are used in the Verna are light weight. They are built using the latest technology and thus, the engines are quiet, responsive and clean. Furthermore, the VTVT and CRDi engines ensure minimum emissions and optimum fuel efficiency. The transmission type used in the 1.4 CRDiVerna is 6 speed manual. In the 1.4 litre VTVT engine, the transmission type is again manual with a 5 speed gearbox.
A wide and bold radiator grille, curvy headlamps, a bonnet with character lines reflect the fluidic design that is incorporated in the Verna. The distinct fog lamps which are blended into the body add elegance to the Verna. Some other features that set apart the Verna from the rest are the bumper with rear reflectors, wrap-around rear lamps and the huge-in-effect look even from the back. The cab forward design with a sweeping roof adds style to the Verna. The dual chrome exhaust pipe gives the car a sportier look while the two tone chrome rear garnish highlights the rear profile of the Verna. Last but not the least, the alloy wheels enhance the external appearance of the vehicle.
The plush interiors of the Verna reflect a taste of superior aesthetic appeal and beauty. The beige leather upholstery on the seats and door pads is simply captivating. The rear seat headrests are extremely comfortable especially on long drives. The sunglasses holder is fabric lined and is indeed classy. It is these minute details that Hyundai has included in the Verna which ultimately ensures that the car retains that elegance and class of its own.
Another feature that seems to relieve driving fatigue is the sliding front armrest. Other features that adorn the interiors of the Verna are the sun visor with mirror, a cooled glove box designed to keep your beverages and drinks cool and power window controls which are ergonomically designed.
6 airbagsprovide all round protectionto the occupants of the Verna. Side and curtain airbags are however available only in the 1.6 SX VTVT and 1.6 CRDi VGT versions of the Verna. The Verna is also equipped with anti-lock braking system (ABS) and the EBD which distributes the brake on all the four wheels according to the vehicle load. There is also a rear proximity warning system in place which warns the driver if any object comes too close to the rear of the car. The seat belt pre tensioners automatically tension the seat belts around the pelvis region of the occupant in the event of a collision, thereby, significantly reducing the chances of a serious injury. The front and rear brakes of the Verna can bring the car to a dead stop even when travelling at a high speed.
With a price tag of Rs. 8.6 lakhs for the 1.4 CRDi, the Verna is a little costlier than its nearest competitors. However, it has to be kept in mind that the car packs in as many features as it could. Buyers should not mind paying that extra bit to enjoy unmatched luxury and comfort.
