Ways To Kill Time Online

We’ve all been there; it gets to 4pm on a Friday and there’s no work left to do and you find yourself aimlessly surfing for something that will entertain you until it’s home time.

Well, to help you next time you’re bored on a Friday afternoon (or any other time for that matter!), here are some ideas to make that time pass a little quicker:

Catch Up on the News

It’s always good to be up-to-date with current events. If you have an hour to kill then take a look at the BBC news pages, Reddit or the New York Times. You’ll soon be hooked on the tragic, the wonderful and the plain weird.

Play Some Games

If you’re not into casual gaming sites where you don’t get much out of it in return, then perhaps you should look at site where you channel the lucky Irish people and have a bit of a flutter playing bingo or poker. A lot of these offer no deposit sign ups, which means you can get playing straight away, perhaps even with some free credit.

If you are looking for a wide variety of online games then there are plenty of sites that have huge catalogues. Or, of course, you can head to Facebook and play one of the games there.

Surf Pinterest

One of the joys of Pinterest is that you can just keep scrolling through pins and boards without ever having to click away.

If you are into cars, shoes, interior design or just like looking at photos of beautiful people, Pinterest is the perfect way to pass the time. You can also pin tutorials, recipes and inspirational pictures to come back to when you have more time.

Sort Out Your Social Media

If you are a casual user of social media then it’s likely that some of your profiles will be out of date. Take some time to have a bit of a social tidy up. Unfollow those few annoying people who have been getting on your nerves, update your profile and find a better user pic.

Then spend some time talking to your newest followers, catching up on the latest news and following more interesting people.

Blog

If you have a blog then take the time to either prepare a new blog post or get one published. Spend some time searching for perfect images or looking at other blogs to get some inspiration for your next post.

StumbleUpon

This is a tool bar that can be added to Mozilla Firefox or there’s a web version for other browsers. You tell it what your interests are then you can start hitting the ‘Stumble’ button. This will then take you to random sites within your interests.

It’s a great way to discover new brands, blogs and websites that could help you to kill time in the future. It’s particularly good if you are looking for DIY tutorials, bizarre fashion, stunning photography or weird videos.

The joy of it is that it learns about your likes and dislikes as you can give each page a thumb up or thumb down.
